Dokkyo Medical University
Hospital and team introduction
Dokkyo Medical University Hospital in Mibumachi, Tochigi Prefecture, is characterized by its training environment, which takes advantage of its large size. In addition to the large number of cases, a significant benefit is that trainees can freely rotate between 33 medical departments and affiliated facilities for up to 8 months. The hospital also boasts the most significant number of clinical training instructors and 250 senior doctors in the prefecture.
The theme of clinical training from 2024 is "Totonou Dokkyo" .The training program is characterized by a balanced cycle of hot clinical experience, cooling down with reflection and rest on weekends, allowing the mind and body to be in harmony like a sauna. In this fulfilling environment, many trainees learn with their peers yearly.
Purpose and impressions of introducing team lab coats and scrubs
"These scrubs made to say, 'I want to work at Dokkyo too.'"
Dokkyo Medical University Hospital Clinical Training Center
Resident Dr. Tsuboi
We had the opportunity to redesign the scrubs we used for our resident recruitment event, and we decided to purchase new teamwear. We wanted to create a design that would make all of our juniors at university think, "I want to join Dokkyo."
When it was time to choose a manufacturer, everyone said, "We want high-quality scrubs," and Clasico was one of the candidates. It's not cheap, but it would be a good commercial for the hospital and motivate us to work, so the training center agreed.
As for the actual design, it has embroidery on the shoulders and back. The row of ginkgo trees in front of the hospital is a very beautiful and famous spot, so I asked a designer to create a design that looks like a ring of ginkgo trees connected together.
There is a bear on the back. This bear is the motif character of the clinical training theme "Totonou Dokkyo," which we have been promoting since this year. For those who feel embarrassed by the cute bear design, we have made a version with just the text, so there are two types to choose from. I am very happy with the finished embroidery. Even though the blue thread is layered on top of the blue fabric, it is still clearly visible, and I think the quality is high.
The doctors and nurses around me in the hospital reacted by saying, "You made something interesting." A university classmate who works outside the university said, "If the scrubs are this cool, I want to work at Dokkyo, too." I've only worn them at online events, but I'd like to wear them often to recruit medical residents and promote Dokkyo.
