Tokyo Medical University Hospital Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery
Hospital and team introduction
Tokyo Medical University Hospital has specialized outpatient clinics in all areas of otolaryngology and head and neck surgery, and each clinic strives to provide cutting-edge diagnosis and treatment. Becoming ill is a new experience for patients and can be full of anxiety. We do not forget our patients' feelings and strive to provide treatment that emphasizes informed consent and quality of life (QOL).
Purpose and impressions of introducing team lab coats and scrubs
We interviewed doctors from the Department of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery at Tokyo Medical University Hospital about their impressions of the scrubs and white coats.
"We were able to maintain a clean appearance and achieve a sense of unity as a team."
Tokyo Medical University Hospital Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery DepartmentChief Professor Kiyoaki Tsukahara
Before the introduction, some staff had matching scrubs, and the rest were mixed. However, to create a sense of unity as a team, we decided to introduce scrubs to the entire department and make purchases optional. The products were affordable scrubs that even junior staff could afford, and we purchased them in bulk. I chose Classico because I like its high quality and fashionability, and I have been using it for a long time. I thought that if I was going to have a set, this was it.
Since becoming a professor, I have become more conscious of my appearance, and I usually wear a white coat and dress shirt. What I wear can affect my credibility and impression, so I pay attention to the material's texture. I chose a white coat made of a thick, sturdy fabric that gives off a sense of luxury. It's good that it's stretchy and doesn't wrinkle easily. Since ENT departments get dirty quickly, the staff's scrubs are a unified deep navy color that is hard to notice. For the logo embroidery, I used one of the hospital's several school crest designs.。
"It looks good and makes me feel motivated"
Dr. Rei Motohashi, Chief and Lecturer of the Department
I was in charge of taking care of the introduction order. I have been using Classico scrubs for a while now because they are straightforward with their slim fit and fabric that does not easily wear out. I introduced them to my team this time because I wanted to increase the team's sense of unity and morale. They have a clean and stylish impression, so they look good when we all move around the hospital together, making us feel more focused.
The products are available in two varieties, "Deo" with deodorizing properties and "FREE" with excellent stretchability, and each team member can choose based on their preferred fabric texture and functionality. We also discussed the balance between the color of the embroidery thread and the scrubs, as well as the embroidery position and font, with much discussion. The combination of navy scrubs and silver embroidery thread is designed to look smart. The lab coats we wear are short-sleeved, combining the original maroon color of the school emblem with gold lettering. We like the way they look, of course, but we also like how functional they are, with their color-fading-resistant properties and multiple pockets.
The younger generation is more aware of Classico, and when the name of Classico was mentioned, the staff were delighted. It's good that the new staff who join every year also wear matching scrubs, which helps to maintain a sense of unity in the department.
