Tokyo D Tower Hospital PART2

Team Apparel with Classico
At Classico, we help whole teams move to scrubs and lab coats that build a shared sense of unity. Here is one team's story. For team orders, see our guide here
About the Hospital & Team
Tokyo D Tower Hospital sits inside the D Tower Toyosu commercial building in Koto City, Tokyo. It offers both advanced and standard insured care, with specialists in neurosurgery, cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, and orthopedics delivering a wide range of high-quality treatment. Patient-focused hospitality is a defining feature: all 32 rooms are private, concierge staff are on hand, and meals are overseen by a three-star restaurant. Every detail is designed around one goal -- making patients and their families feel genuinely comfortable.
Why They Chose Classico: Goals & Feedback
This is part of a three-part series on Tokyo D Tower Hospital's experience with Classico. In Part 2, we hear from doctors in neurosurgery, cardiovascular surgery, and cardiology > Read Part 1 here > Read Part 3 here
We spoke with Dr. Kishida, Director of the Skull Base and Endoscopic Center in Neurosurgery at Tokyo D Tower Hospital, about his experience.

'To respect my patients, I want to dress the part.'
Dr. Yugo Kishida -- Director, Skull Base and Endoscopic Center, Neurosurgery, Tokyo D Tower Hospital
I'd been wearing Classico on my own for a while already. Hospital-issued lab coats tend to get old, stained, or lose their shape, and I wanted something better. Looking put-together might seem unrelated to the practice of medicine, but I think it genuinely matters.

There used to be a certain attitude among surgeons -- something like, 'I'll do the surgery and fix you, so don't bother me about anything else.' But a good surgery is just the baseline. To deliver truly high-quality care, doctors also need to respect patients and earn their trust as people, not just as clinicians. Dressing and speaking in a way that puts patients at ease is part of that. And since neurosurgery often means long hours in surgery, I want scrubs that feel like a second skin -- something I forget I'm even wearing.

I really like how soft the fabric is on this Classico lab coat and scrubs. It doesn't restrict my arm movement at all. And even though it's light and soft, it holds up wash after wash -- genuinely functional.
Department Spotlight: Cardiovascular Surgery
The Cardiovascular Surgery team at Tokyo D Tower Hospital handles surgery for heart and vascular conditions, working alongside cardiologists and anesthesiologists as part of the hospital's 'Heart Team' to deliver advanced care. The department specializes in minimally invasive surgery that eases the burden on patients, along with endovascular treatments such as stent grafting. Together, the team works every day to find the best possible treatment for each patient.
Why They Chose Classico: Goals & Feedback
We spoke with Dr. Kiuchi, Director of Cardiovascular Surgery at Tokyo D Tower Hospital, about his experience.

"In surgery, where teamwork is vital, unified apparel makes a real difference."
Dr. Ryuta Kiuchi -- Director, Cardiovascular Surgery, Tokyo D Tower Hospital
At our hospital, it’s not just the doctors and nurses wearing Classico uniforms -- our allied health professionals wear them, too. Having the whole team in the same gear creates a strong sense of unity and coordination, which goes a long way toward building a tighter team.

The design is also excellent, and patients frequently comment on how sharp we look. Medicine is built entirely on trust, and patients need to feel confident in us before treatment even begins. In that sense, maintaining a polished appearance is essential.
For a doctor, lab coats and scrubs are like battle armor. While every specialty is demanding, cardiovascular surgery directly involves life-or-death decisions. Changing into these scrubs each morning sharpens my focus and puts me right in the mindset to perform.

Department Spotlight: Cardiology
The Cardiology department at Tokyo D Tower Hospital provides comprehensive care, offering medication alongside minimally invasive procedures such as stent placement and catheter ablation to ease the burden on patients. Working closely with Cardiovascular Surgery as part of the unified "Heart Team," the department handles complex cases that might otherwise be deemed untreatable, delivering high-quality, team-based care.
Why They Chose Classico: Goals & Feedback
We spoke with Dr. Akira Takarada, Deputy Director of Cardiology at Tokyo D Tower Hospital, about his experience.

"The breathability is great -- no more dripping sweat during catheterizations." Dr. Akira Takarada -- Deputy Director, Cardiology, Tokyo D Tower Hospital
Before this rollout, I’d only ever worn basic hospital-issued scrubs, so this was my first time trying Classico. My immediate impression was just how breathable they are.
When I think of scrubs, I usually picture the blue ones used in the catheterization lab. In the past, I’d often end up stuffy and dripping with sweat during a procedure. These scrubs completely solve that problem -- they’re light, breathable, and genuinely comfortable.

To be honest, I’ve never been a fan of lab coats and rarely wear them. I prefer scrubs because they feel more approachable to patients. Classico scrubs look sharp and structured on their own without needing a coat over them, which is a major plus for me.
