A Conversation with Nursing Director, Noriko Mifune

When it was time to update our uniforms, we conducted a thorough selection process involving fittings and a questionnaire with uniforms from three companies. I first encountered Gelato Pique & Classico's uniforms five years ago and was immediately impressed. I made sure they were included as a candidate this time.

 After considering design, laundering requirements, and durability, we decided on the Gelato Pique & Classico scrubs.

 The primary reason for our selection was the fabric quality. Nurses wear their uniforms for long periods, so the apparel must be comfortable, non-restrictive, and allow for ease of movement. We also believe stylish apparel contributes to a greater sense of professional fulfillment. The Gelato Pique & Classico scrubs are exceptionally comfortable and feature an elegant, appealing design.

 

 Unlike our previous single-color uniform, we adopted two designs in three colors. These are not assigned by position or role but can be chosen freely by each individual. We wanted to give our staff the opportunity to express their personal style at work.

 

During the final decision, we noted the price was slightly higher than that of other products. However, as a hospital, we believe our team deserves to wear high-quality apparel, which is why we chose this brand.

 Personally, I appreciate that the design is both elegant and appealing, giving our nurses a dignified appearance as healthcare professionals. The silhouette is beautiful, and the front zipper is functional, opening and closing smoothly without snagging. The design is simply wonderful.

The fabric is a significant improvement over our last uniform. It allows for easy movement and is not see-through. The previous uniform fabric made it difficult to rest during breaks, but this material is stretchy and soft, which helps reduce fatigue. The pants feature both elastic and a drawstring, ensuring a comfortable, secure fit.

 

For me, changing into my uniform helps reset my mindset for work and serves as a reminder of my aspirations and my respect for our patients. The ideal nurse's uniform should be gentle, clean, and well-fitting with a beautiful silhouette. It should be soothing and encouraging to patients.

 In that regard, we are thrilled with the Gelato Pique x Classico uniforms. This change will increase staff motivation and will also be beneficial for our nursing students. I was so impressed with these lab coats when I first saw them, and I waited five years for this implementation. I look forward to wearing mine every day.
